The original Netflix Sci-fi adventure family drama series is not going to be continued. Keep reading to know the reasons why…
This American streaming TV series started in 2018 and is a reboot of the 1965 series with the same name.
Lost In Space is a family adventure drama that takes place in the vastness of space, as the name suggests. The sci-fi series is packed with stunning visuals and gripping performances by its impressive cast, which includes Taylor Russell, Mina Sundwall, Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, and Maxwell Jenkins.
The final season is set to be released and fans of the show will have to contend with the fact that this was the plan from the very beginning. The Executive producer Zack Estrin explained that they had always viewed the show as a trilogy.
The series is set 30 years in the future, where the colonization of different planets has become a reality. The Robinson family is a part of those people who are selected to be sent to start new lives in distant worlds. While en route to their destination, the family and others find themselves torn off-course and crash landing on an alien planet.
Now they have to fight against all odds to survive and escape the indigenous life on the new planet that threatens them.
The show has received Emmy nominations for Special Visual Effects; however, the show does not do anything more to step beyond the usual sci-fi genre. It seems lackluster, even though the creativity put into the production is outstanding.
The series is still worth watching and has excellent potential, which many will see once they've viewed it. Netflix has done a great job updating the series for the 21st-century viewer.
As mentioned, the plan for the show was always a trilogy, Zack Estrin explained that the story of the Robinsons family was always planned as a three-part saga from the get-go. So, keeping true to what was said, they've announced that the series is coming to an end.
The news was shared by Netflix in March of 2020 before the final season even went into production. This decision also aligns with Netflix's standard business practices. The streaming platform is known to cut short shows unless it's an instant hit. And, with the rocky start that this series has had, it's not surprising that it's ending.
Even though the series is coming to an end, fans can still look forward to the final season that will be released this year. Since the plan was to end the show after this one, fans will get a solid plotline for the finale, which won't feel rushed.
Also, Estrin mentioned that he will be working on other shows with Netflix and has stated he is extremely excited about working on upcoming new projects with Netflix. He is looking forward to all the exciting possibilities that lay ahead.
This should give anybody who is a fan of his hope for even better things yet to come.
