The television show, Fate the Winx Saga, is a dark fantasy, supernatural, teen drama that is based upon the Nickelodeon animated series, Winx Club, created by Iginio Straffi and aired on Netflix. Fate the Winx Saga is produced by Archery Pictures and Rainbow, a studio co-owned by Iginio Straffi, and Paramount Global.

 

What is the premise of the TV series, Fate the Winx Saga?

 

Fate the Winx Saga is a coming-of-age story that tells the tale of a fairy named Bloom who possesses the magical ability of fire power. Bloom and four other fairies are enrolled in an Otherworld boarding school called Alfea, Bloom’s parents are ordinary people who live in the First World and she lied to them in order to study in the Otherworld, their only contact with her is via mobile phone and they believe she is studying in Switzerland. Bloom’s friends and roommates are Aisha, who is a water fairy, Musa, a mind fairy, Stella, who is a light fairy and Terra, an earth fairy.  Closed off to ordinary people from the First World, the Otherworld is a place where fairies, witches, specialists and monsters are to be found and it is where Bloom and her friends learn how to master their individual powers at the same time as fighting monsters who are threatening to destroy them and whilst seeking the truth about Bloom’s past.

The Netflix release date of the fantasy teen drama TV series, Fate the Winx Saga, was 22 January, 2021, this first season consisted of 6 episodes, each with a run time of between 47 and 54 minutes. Season one of Fate the Winx Saga was a huge hit, with around 57 million subscribers in the first 28 days. Due to its successful premiere, the show was renewed for a second season in February 2021. Season 2 was released by Netflix on 16 September, 2022, the second season consisted of 7 episodes, each of which also had a run time of between 47 and 54 minutes. Season 2 was also hugely successful, earning top rankings in 76 countries in its first two days.

 

Who created the live-action TV show, Fate the Winx Saga?

 

The idea of a live-action adaptation of Winx Club was actually proposed way back in 2011 by Iginio Straffi and it was eventually created and developed by Brian Young, who is also the show runner and one of the executive producers. Principle photography for Fate the Winx Saga started in Ireland during September 2019, the production companies involved in the making of the show are Archery Pictures, Young Blood Productions and Rainbow S.p.A. (Paramount Global) and, of course, the network that distributes the series is Netflix. The executive producers are Brian Young, Cristiana Buzzelli, Judy Counihan, Joanne Lee, Kris Thykier and Lis Steele.

Considering its great reviews, that the fans and cast members are keen to see the show return and the fact that season 2 ended on a cliff hanger, there is a distinct possibility that we will get to see a third season.
