Chesapeake Shores is an American drama TV show based upon the series of best-selling novels written by Sherryl Woods that are also called Chesapeake Shores, Sherryl Woods also wrote Sweet Magnolias. The series is produced by Chesapeake Shores Productions Inc and Daniel L. Paulson Entertainment, and it airs on the Hallmark channel.
The television series, Chesapeake Shores, is hugely popular and has a loyal fan base, these fans were left feeling utterly devastated when they heard that season 6 would be the last of the series as the network was canceling the show.
When Hallmark initially made the announcement that Chesapeake Shores was canceled and there would be no season 7, it was not clear why they had made this decision, however, when fans voiced their disappointment on Twitter and asked why the show was ending, the official Twitter account of Hallmark responded saying “We are so proud of Chesapeake Shores, a show that has captured imaginations and was reaching a natural conclusion, and we decided to wrap up the show on a high note in the sixth and final season, which premieres later this summer.” Laurie Ferneau is Senior Vice President of Development at Crown Media Family Networks/Hallmark Channel and she said “With a top-notch ensemble cast and creative team, ‘Chesapeake Shores’ has shared stories that are relatable, poignant and unforgettable. We look forward to honoring the journey viewers have been on with the O’Briens with one final, special season.”
2022, fans of the show were delighted to hear that it was to be renewed for a sixth season, however, they were also devastated to learn that this would be the last season to be made.
The sixth and final season of the show, Chesapeake Shores, premiered on August 14, 2022, this season will consist of 10 episodes.
The TV show, Chesapeake Shores, follows the story of Abby O’Brien Winters (Meghan Ory), who returns from New York City to her hometown of Chesapeake Shores, Maryland, after hearing that the inn run by her sister Jess O’Brien Peck (Laci J Mailey) has been threatened with foreclosure. Abby now has to not only deal with her fractured family but she discovers that her first love Trace Riley (Jesse Metcalf) is back in town and so is her estranged mother, Megan (Barbara Niven).
The TV series, Chesapeake Shores, premiered with a two hour “Pilot” episode on the Hallmark channel on August 14, 2016. The first season consisted of 9 episodes and, apart from the first episode, each had a running time of around 45 minutes, this first season ended on October 9, 2016.
The second season of Chesapeake Shores premiered on August 6, 2017, season 2 consisted of 10 episodes, with the season finale airing on October 8, 2017. Hallmark announced on January 13, 2018, that the show would return for a third season.
Chesapeake Shores, season 3, premiered on August 5, 2018, this third season also consisted of 10 episodes, with the last episode shown on October 7, 2018. In February 2019, an announcement was made that the show would be renewed for a fourth season.
The fourth season of Chesapeake Shores premiered on August 25, 2019, this season was shorter than the previous two, consisting of only 6 episodes, the fourth season finale aired on September 29, 2019. On February 28, 2020, the network announced that Chesapeake Shores would be returning for a fifth season.
Season 5 of the show, Chesapeake Shores, premiered on August 15,2021, this fifth season consisted of 10 episodes and its final episode aired on October 17, 2021. On March 29.
It has been noted by a variety of sources that despite its popularity with fans, ratings for the show were declining.
