About Barbarians TV Show

Barbarians proved to be a smash hit for Netflix when it was released in October 2020. Will the historical war drama be renewed for a second season?

What Is The Premise Of Barbarians?

Barbarians is a 2020 German war drama series airing on Netflix. The drama is based on historical events during the Roman Empire’s occupation of Germania, as well as Arminius leading a rebellion against the Romans. An excellent cast helps bring the show to life. For instance, Laurence Rupp portrays Arminius while David Schutter plays Folkwin Wolfspeer.

Other members of the cast include Urs Rechn, Nicki Von Templehoff, Bernhard Schutz, and Jeanne Goursaud. During the first season, Arminius begins making moves, such as forging a political marriage with Thusnelda. He begins uniting the Germanic tribes so they can fight back against the Roman invaders.

Near the end of the season, Arminius leads three Roman legions and Varus into the forest to face the Roman army.

When Did Barbarians Originally Premiere?

The first season of Barbarians debuted two years ago on October 23, 2020. It consisted of six episodes spanning in length from 41 to 51 minutes. So far, there has only been one season of Barbarians, although fans should expect more in the near future. After all, it has already been renewed for at least one more season. Thanks to its success at home and abroad, there is a good chance that Barbarians will stick around for many more.

What Is Expected In Season 2?

Many fans will agree that Barbarians had the perfect season finale since it set up future episodes exceptionally well. During the last scene, a cloaked figure is shown riding through the forest with the severed head of Varus while passing countless bodies of dead Roman soldiers. It is believed that this individual intends to take the head to Rome to present as a warning.

Suffice to say, the Battle in Teutoburg Forest is just the beginning for Arminius and his allies. Although nothing is certain, a lot could be in store for the next season. For starters, there is a good chance that Arminius and Thusnelda will become King and Queen of the Germanic Tribes.

Meanwhile, Thusnelda’s father intends to attack Hadgan when Arminius isn’t prepared for it so he can take power. In addition to this, the couple will have to worry about an impending Roman attack. The Romans will be commanded by Germanicus, meaning they will be ready for anything.

Folkwin Wolfspeer has a few tricks up his sleeves as well since he has his sights set on revenge.

Is Barbarians Worth Watching?

Barbarians is an exhilarating television show that retells history, meaning it is a good choice for action and history fans. The series has received praise from audiences and critics so there is a good chance that most viewers will enjoy it.

In fact, many viewers will clamor for more since the first season is slightly short. Thanks to its excellent cast, beautiful scenery, and historically-accurate action, Barbarians is well worth checking out.
