Based on the best-selling novels written by Jørn Lier Horst, the series stars Sven Nordin (Lilyhammer, Valkyrien) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix trilogy, Marvel's Jessica Jones). The 10-part production follows homicide detective William Wisting as he wrestles with the most challenging and shocking case of his career: a wanted American serial killer living in Norway. Wisting is produced by Cinenord in co-production with Good Company Films, Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group), Degeto Film and Ripple World Pictures.

It all began with 'Lilyhammer,' which is currently accessible to watch on Netflix, then there's 'The Killing,' and we can't ignore the impact of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.'</p> <p> </p> <p>On the other hand, Sundance Now wasn't far behind in this competition. The official summary tells the story of Norwegian homicide investigator William Wisting following an American serial murderer.</p> <p> </p> <h2>First release and budget</h2> <p> </p> <p>Wisting is among the most costly TV drama shows in the history of this country, with a budget of €11.4 million, and the production quality reflects this fact. Initially broadcast in Norway in April 2019, the show was picked up by the BBC and shown on BBC Four in late 2019 and early 2020. It is currently accessible on Acorn TV and Sundance Now in the United States, and it is now available on DVD and Blu-Ray starting from April 27th.</p> <p> </p> <h2>Plot summary</h2> <p> </p> <p>The plot opens with a murder on a Norwegian Christmas tree farm. Wisting makes a finding after arriving at the crime site and tracking out some leads, he discovers that the murder is tied to the killing method of a notorious American serial killer. When the number of inexplicable fatalities reaches two, Wisting embarks on a mission to find the much feared murderer.</p> <p> </p> <p>In the end, Wisting and Griffin trace the culprit to the Swedish border and finally apprehend him. Philip Henden, a lawyer jailed for 17 years thanks to Wisting and altered evidence, makes a return. Wisting is fired, and Line swears to avenge her father.</p> <p> </p> <h2>Casting stars</h2> <p> </p> <p>Sven Nordin plays Inspector William Wisting. His debut came with 'Röd snö,' and since then, he has been in several series, including 'Lilyhammer' and 'Wallander.'</p> <p> </p> <p>Thea Green Lundberg plays line Wisting. Maggie Griffin, played by Carrie-Anne Moss, is an FBI agent. Carrie is well-known for her appearances in 'The Matrix' and its sequels, 'Chocolat,' 'Frankenstein,' 'Jessica Jones,' 'Daredevil,' and 'Iron Fist.' Richie Campbell appears as Special Agent John Bantham. The cast also includes Gard B. Eidsvold, Mads Ousdal, and Lars Berge.</p> <p> </p> <h2>What do we know about season 2 so far?</h2> <p> </p> <p>The second season of the successful Norwegian criminal thriller Wisting, based on the books of Jorn Lier Horst, has commenced production and was planned to be launched on the streaming platform in Spring 2021, according to Viaplay.</p> <p> </p> <p>In season two, the investigator William Wisting (Sven Nordin) takes on two of his most challenging cases. He must first fight against the clock to apprehend an escaped serial murderer before he can attack again and then investigate the horrific riddle of an anonymous woman's skull set on a spike in the heart of Larvik.</p> <p> </p> <p>Season two of Wisting, written and directed by Trygve Allister Diesen (The Third Eye), consists of eight parts and was aired on Viaplay across the Nordic area on December 26th, 2021.</p>
