Sara Aguilar de Acero is a survivor. After the father of her son, Salvador, is gunned down at their wedding, neither she nor anyone she loves can count on their safety. ed by drug trafficking, and while she did not choose this life, it has given her one important advantage: nerves of steel. After serving five years in prison, Sara asks to be released based on a lack of evidence in her case. Her hopes are dashed when the President of the Republic himself, at the request of his private secretary, Berta Aguilar, gets the court to sentence Sara to 25 years behind bars. A resentful sister, the political ambitions of a corrupt president, and yet another stroke of bad luck plunge Señora Acero into a deep depression. Once more she must say goodbye to her son and to the love of her life, Manuel Caicedo. After so many setbacks, Sara is tired of fighting. In prison, she can count on her best friend, La Faría, to watch her back. Meanwhile, El Teca and El Indio, Sara’s archenemies, wait eagerly for the day Señora Acero will be released from jail. El Teca cannot bear that thought that the woman who rejected, humiliated and betrayed him could regain her freedom. Convinced that Sara is free and in hiding but unable to touch her, he kidnaps Salvador instead. Sara once more puts everything she has on the line to save her son. Determined to escape from jail, she resorts to high-level political maneuvering for a chance at freedom and to be reunited with her lover, Manuel; her friends Aracely and Miriam; her sisters, Josefina and Berta – one her accomplice, the other her enemy; and her godfather, Quintanilla… But they are not all that await her outside of jail. Once free, Sara must also face hatred, death, and her enemies’ thirst for revenge.
